In my last blog post, I challenged you to find a creative outlet and share it with others, embracing the vivid imperfections that surface from practicing daily and growing better. Maybe you haven’t started yet, and are overwhelmed from external and internal forces. Perhaps you’ve started a new hobby and it’s becoming your favorite part of the day. Share with me on instagram and tag @anastasiavandyke - I’d love to see what you’re up to!

No matter where you are right now, one way to fight the staleness of your environment is to invest in your surroundings. Before you hide your wallet, let me explain: I do not want you to spend beaucoup bucks on re-doing your entire house. That’s unnecessary, unless your house really needs it - did I mention I’m an interior designer?

One way to quickly and cost effectively revitalize your space is through new art. Replacing old prints with new art is so easy, and can totally transform an entire room. Does the current art hanging around bring you joy? If the answer is no, what’s holding you back? If you’re thinking, I don’t have much art or frames to recycle, it’s quite simple: use standard size frames that are timeless, like thin, black metal, or natural wood. I prefer minimal styles without too many decorative details to increase versatility. In addition, mats and glazing are extremely beneficial and recommended to preserve your art’s longevity. In a matter of minutes, you could create an entirely new feel! By the way, no need to toss the old art - you can easily resurface it for next year to mix and match with newer pieces.

I encourage you to take ownership of your space and align it with your intentions. Investing in new art is an approachable way to fuel your creativity and surround yourself in a positive environment.
